Too Hot for the Chimenea!

This photo was earlier this summer, but now it's way too hot (it was 99 yesterday). The chimenea has held up just fine to the repairs with the JB Weld (earlier post).

Sugar Baby Watermelon

The garden has not been great this year. I think I have not spent the time to nurture it along with these other pursuits. We had a few of these 'Sugar Baby' watermelons. They are small about the size of a cantaloupe, but very sweet and good!

OK, We're Ready for the Next Art Show

Decided to go full tilt and get the canopy. We tested the set up out in the yard. EZ up is pretty EZ!

New Pottery - These are in the Kiln Now

These are some wheel thrown and altered soap dishes, and some fluted bowls. They are in the kiln now. I hope they turn out OK. I tried some new glazes and that's sometimes a gamble. Got my fingers crossed.

Tomatoes, Dressing, Candle and Pinot Grigio

We are getting some tomatoes now. My favorite thing from the vegetable garden. I would show you some photos of the tomato plants, but they look kind of raggedy.

Wild Bunny Rabbit

I see quite of few wild bunnies hopping about in our yard. This young one is nibbling on some clover near the vegetable garden. Caught this with a 200mm zoom. I think this may be a baby of the one that was eating the artichoke leaves!

Fluted Pottery Bowl in Waiting

I wanted to try this fluting on the rim for a salsa bowl. We'll see how it turns out.

Squash Blossom

Yellow squash plant in our garden. We've gotten a few so far.

Wine Goblets

This is the first time I've tried wine goblets. First the cup was thrown on wheel and then partially dried, next day the stem was wheel thrown on the upside down cup while on the wheel.

Corn Post (or Posted Corn)

We've had two heat waves so far this summer. Kind of hard on the garden. But the corn larvae looks healthy.

Blueberries are Gone with the Wind

This is a photo of the blueberries that were in my garden. I tried to keep the birds from getting them this year. I draped bird netting over the bushes and placed reflective whirly things, but they got them all. Not even waiting for them to ripen. Yes, all that fertilizing, mulching, watering... it was all for the birds. I saw the photos (below) of others who grow blueberries and they had a fortress built around them, like a greenhouse cage with net/chicken wire. Maybe next year. Or maybe just buy some!

Pottery in Waiting

These salsa dip bowls and small jug are now trimmed and dried and will be bisque fired next week. Thinking of colors to do for glazes.

Wascally Wabbit in the garden

This little rabbit has eaten the leaves off of the artichoke plants. I put chicken wire around them to save what leaves were left. Hopefully they will grow back.

Blue Dome Arts Festival

First art festival this year. It was a lot of fun. Three days. There was a huge storm the first night, luckily we completely packed up for that evening because of weather forecast. Some of the other artists lost their canopies, etc.
