Brookside ARTZZ Show

After over two weeks of rain, we hit a beautiful day. Sunny around 80F.

There were a lot of folks out walking their dogs at the art show. A church group set up a doggy watering booth and had large bowls of water for the dogs, and they gave them free doggy biscuits. Nice!
A lady and her mother came by and had a stroller full of Papillon dogs. They wore little pink tutus to match their stoller. Oh boy, now there's a dogs life!!

Garden Photos

This 'Celosia Cristata' came up from last year's seed that had fallen in the ground. This flower is large, about 6" x 8". They are very stunning and easy to grow.

More info coming soon, so please check back in to the blog.

Getting Bugs to Pose on Flowers

This little wasp didn't give me too much trouble when I ask him to pose for me on top of this onion flower.

I had a dickens of a time getting this fly to pose for me on the leaf of the 'Carefree Beauty' rose bush. But he finally cooperated.

But bees, on the other hand, absolutely love to pose on 'Echinacea' coneflowers.

Some Wonderful Art from a Children's Summer Art Camp

We visited an art show featuring work from kid's art camps at our city's art coop. Isn't it wonderful? So pure and colorful.

Oh, Please, Just One More Bunny Photo

or two photos
Seems like that our wild rabbits are not running away immediately but kind of hanging to see if you walk towards them. This was a zoom in and cropped in Photoshop.

Too Hot for the Chimenea!

This photo was earlier this summer, but now it's way too hot (it was 99 yesterday). The chimenea has held up just fine to the repairs with the JB Weld (earlier post).

Sugar Baby Watermelon

The garden has not been great this year. I think I have not spent the time to nurture it along with these other pursuits. We had a few of these 'Sugar Baby' watermelons. They are small about the size of a cantaloupe, but very sweet and good!

Decided to go full tilt and get the canopy. We tested the set up out in the yard. EZ up is pretty EZ!

New Pottery - These are in the Kiln Now

These are some wheel thrown and altered soap dishes, and some fluted bowls. They are in the kiln now. I hope they turn out OK. I tried some new glazes and that's sometimes a gamble. Got my fingers crossed.

Tomatoes, Dressing, Candle and Pinot Grigio

We are getting some tomatoes now. My favorite thing from the vegetable garden. I would show you some photos of the tomato plants, but they look kind of raggedy.

Wild Bunny Rabbit

I see quite of few wild bunnies hopping about in our yard. This young one is nibbling on some clover near the vegetable garden. Caught this with a 200mm zoom. I think this may be a baby of the one that was eating the artichoke leaves!

I wanted to try this fluting on the rim for a salsa bowl. We'll see how it turns out.

Wine Goblets

This is the first time I've tried wine goblets. First the cup was thrown on wheel and then partially dried, next day the stem was wheel thrown on the upside down cup while on the wheel.

Corn Post (or Posted Corn)

We've had two heat waves so far this summer. Kind of hard on the garden. But the corn larvae looks healthy.
